Prague: part 2

Today we started the day off early- trying to make up for the time we spent on the road yesterday.

We got off the metro close to the Palace making our way to a cafe I read about online.
We walked through Kampa Island to get to breakfast... and we were starving... and I thought we off the metro closest to the cafe but I was WAY off... we were at least a 15-20 minute walk...
on the plus side... we got to see a few things on the way:
Čůrající postavy- Peeing Statues
made by Czech artist David Černý.
The statues pee quotes and even texts if you send one to them….

In Letná Park
Café Savoy:
Im so glad we went because it was AMAZING!!  The staff was great, food was fresh, and you could even watch the chef's working through a window.

After breakfast- we walked to Pomník obětem komunismu Praha or Memorial to the Victims of Communist
On Petrin Hill we saw the statues that serve as a reminder of the victims of the Communist era

We then walked back through the park- around the other side to go back into the old town square...
Letná Park
Lichtenštejnský palace- Liechtenstein Palace
A, built in the 17th century Baroque palace, used for governmental purposes- like accommodation of official visits.  We just happened to be walking by when the President of Germany arrived...

Karlův most- Charles Bridge
This 14th century bridge is world-famous decorated with many statues.  It connects the Old Town with Lesser Town

Staroměstská mostecká věžOld Town Bridge Tower

Gothic tower that guards the Charles Bridge.

Old Town Square with a view of the

Kostel Matky Boží před Týnem: Church of Our Lady Before Týn in the back

St. Salvator Kostel U Salvátora- Church of St. Salvator
17th-century Baroque near the Old Town Square.

We then left Old Town Square to walk towards the shops where we were last night...

áclavské náměstí: Wenceslas Square

Jubilejní synagoga Praha: Jubilee Synagogue
This synagogue was  built in 1906 in Moorish Revival style

Steve holding Liam while he slept... for the LAST time this trip... We really should have brought the stroller!!  He is HEAVY!
From there- we started walking towards a bakery I read about for an afternoon snack...
We walked by this cute little church, through Jindřišská věž: Jindrisska Tower and towards the north side of Old Town.

Obecní dům: Municipal House
 Houses concerts and balls.
Bakeshop Praha: Bakeshop Prague (bottom of the building)

AMAZING cakes, cookies, pastries, breads, coffee and more!!
After our snacks (cakes, pies, pasta and drinks) we walked towards and around the Jewish Quarter
Španělská synagoga: Spanish Synagogue

A 19th-century synagogue built in a Moorish style
While walking through the street market- I ran out of room on my SIM.... we were lucky to have found one for sale at one of these venders.
Old-New Synagogue Prague Staronová synagoga
Dating back to the 13th century… it is the oldest one in Europe and is still used.

We then walked back towards the water to get to the boats for a boat cruise.
Národní divadlo: National Theater Prague
The main stage of Czech offering performances of opera, ballet or drama.

The Palace

We found a boat cruise right after crossing the Svatopluk Čechův mos: Cech Bridge which was built in the 1910s (in the background).  Here we are walking on our private boat... It was amazing!!

The rest were taken from the water.... where we had amazing views of the beautiful city.
Charles Bridge:

Going under the Charles Bridge:

The back of Liechtenstein Palace

The other side of Charles Bridge

This was by the paddle boat rentals… and so many people paddling their boats around
Čechův most: Svatopluk Cech Bridge

Rudolfinum

Nejužší ulice v Praze: The Narrowest Street in Prague

Malá Strana: Lesser Quarter

Malostranská Mostecká věž: Lesser Town Bridge Tower
Walked over the Charles Bridge once again after the boat tour... and saw this interesting character doing a one-man-band show.

We met up with Mike and Rokzanne for dinner- walked around the streets looking for the pub that was recommend by trip advisor for local great food...
Pivovar a restaurace U Fleků: U Fleků Brewery and Restaurant.
Its a restaurant, pub and micro-brewery located in a building from 1499- although the building was awesome… the service was blah and the food was also blah. Better luck next time…
After dinner we walked back into the Old Town area for our final time....

St. Salvator Church Old Town- another angle

And once again back through Old Town Square one last time before heading back to the hotel...
This performer was AMAZING!!!  He kept the ball in the air while rolling, standing, sitting, laying down, etc. all while bouncing it to a different body part... that is TALENT right there for you!!

We did a bit more walking before making our way to the metro station to head back to the hotel.  Today was a long one full of walking, sight-seeing, eating, and shopping/looking around.  I can't believe our trip is over... tomorrow we will be heading out early to drive 8-9 hours to Milan so we can make our 6am flight Saturday morning.
Prague- another beautiful city that we could spend a week in and still not see everything we want.  I would love to come back and spend more than a day and a half... I loved it that much!!
