Sunday in Brugge, Belgium

Sunday we rented a car for the day and drove to Belgium:
It was so much fun... and so good (the chocolate that is)!

Driving into town:
We parked the car and walked around for a bit before stopping for something to eat.
Brugge is a beautiful place to visit- I just wished we had more time... I always want more time...

This 'chocolatier' is said to be the BEST in the area.
I would have to agree!

We stopped to try the Belgian waffles... they were amazing!!

After eating we walked around and stumbled into the city center... we wished we would have seen what was going on prior to eating waffles (only a little though- they were the best waffles ever).
We couldn't believe that we happened to be there the same day as the Thailand festival... Something that is only one weekend out of the year and we were able to experience it.  There was live music, dancing, and booths everywhere selling amazing food, travel info/packages, and more.

We got out of the center and enjoyed walking through town and into as many chocolate shops as possible. They were all so good... too good... impossible to resist good.

Chocolate wheels at work behind the counter:

Farmers market place during the week and Saturday-
on Sundays locals set up booths to sell their arts and crafts.

No need for an ice cream truck here... instead they need waffle trucks:

We spent all day walking around and eating as much chocolate as possible...
When we returned to Amsterdam, we headed out for sushi and more people watching (our favorite thing to do in this city at night)

One thing that surprised me... and still amazes me is that the metro closes at midnight. If you need a ride back to the hotel after midnight... one must ride the night bus.

Waiting for the night bus with a view like this is nothing to complain about:
The only time we ever saw police interact with the public was Sunday on the night bus... so of course I had to get a picture of them removing a heavily intoxicated man from the bus.
