Nana and Papa come to visit

Grandpa and Grandma Hansen came to visit... and it was great!! This is the first time since Steve and I have been married that my dad has made it out to visit us and the second for my mom (she came to Charleston when we had Morgan).
In case you were wondering why my parents have never made it out to visit... I will explain. My mom always takes a week off to visit her children when they have children to help out... and since Steve and I have not had any children in 3 years and my other (3) sisters will not stop having children... we are not on that priority list:).

My parents came out for a week to see our family, our home and to see a little bit of the South East (we joke that my dad really came out to take a tour of the submarine- hes into that kind of thing). It was a great week- fast but great. The second day they were here I took them to Fort Clinch to walk around the beach and take pictures. I took some awesome pictures, put my camera in my lap to chat for a bit on the rocks and next thing I know.... my camera is falling down the pile of rocks like a pinball in a pinball machine. Needless to say- about 200 pictures and my camera are at the bottom of hundreds of huge rocks. Not a great moment for me. So later that day I went out to buy a new camera and take more pictures of nana and papa being here.
We went to the beach a few times, to the submarine museum in St. Marys, GA, took a ride on base, walked around downtown, went shopping, planted trees in the back yard, celebrated papas 61st birthday and of course just hung out around the house. My dad was also able to take a tour of Steves submarine on Saturday and enjoyed every minute of that! We had a blast and didnt want to see them go. I hope it will not be another 6 years before we can get nana and papa to visit us again!!

Grandma finally came. The three days before she came- Morgan had been talking nonstop about grandma coming to town. We had a great time while she was here. Steve had to work everyday but was able to be home for dinner. The kids and I were so glad we had the chance to spend time with her. We went to the beach a few times, walked around downtown Fernandina, went to lunch, grilled out, went fishing in the pond behind our house and of course the kids favorite- went to ice cream. It was a great weekend. We cant wait until the next time grandma comes to visit us!!

Aydins first FOOTBALL game!!

This morning the Hornets had their first football game (a preseason game). Aydin.. number 7- played GREAT. The othr team was HUGE. Aydin went up against a little boy about a head taller than he is. He did good though. He played 10 minutes on defense and held him every time. I cant wait for the season games to come.

Daddy is HOME!

He's FINALLY home!! Wow- has it been a long summer!! We are glad to say- Steve is home for a few months!
Aydin had to go to school this morning.... Morgan and I went down to the beach to see the boat come in... and Morgan LOVED it. I didnt realize how many other wives would be at the beach today. A few hours after we saw the boat pass by... we were able to go to base and pick him up. Morgan ran right up to him and wouldnt let him put her down.
We then went to Aydins school to surprise him (he didnt realize Steve was coming back while he was in school) and his eyes got SO big! He ran right up to him and held on for as long as he could.
It was a great day for all of us!! We are so glad he is home!

Beach after Fay

Tonight the kids and I wanted to go take a look at the beach after Fay had come and gone. Even though Fay had passed by- it was still so very windy. I could barely walk up to the beach with out getting pushed around by the wind. The waves were coming in pretty choppy and the sand was beating against my face- but it was pretty cool to see.

Tropical Storm Fay- party...

Yesterday school was closed for the Tropical Storm that was going to come through Jacksonville. We ended up spending the day at a friends house watching the storm pass. Around 7pm... the power in my house went out... and we didnt want to go home to the dark... so we ended
up having our own little 'hurricane' party at their house with the kids. The kids had a blast staying up late, eating popcorn, playing games and sleeping at Catie and Elizabeths house. Thanks to great friends- we had a great time on a night that could have been very long and boring!!
