Churros

You cannot come to Spain without having their churros... which are nothing like the Mexican churros.  Tonight we had churros for dinner... mom LOVED them and of course the kids loved that they had churros with chocolate for dinner.

Making the churros...

Big and little ones... I like the little ones better but they are both good.

Checking out Rota

Today we walked around Rota- on another beautiful day.

The water was so blue today...

Walking from the coast into town a bit-
by the church

and castle

Most cities are lined with orange trees... I love it.

We passed by a few men selling urchins on the side of the road:

I love this picture...

Sanlucar fish market

Today mom and I went into Sanlucar to check out the market.  We are so lucky to live in an area where the produce, fish and meat are all fresh... as fresh as they come (we saw them skinning a pig, gutting the fish, and carving meat).

Big enough?

This bell pepper was HUGE

We ended up bringing home some fish- we bought 4 prawns...
they were as big as my face and SO good!!

Arcos de la Frontera

Mom and I took a trip to Arcos today to check out the city.  It was a beautiful day.  We parked a little lower than I parked when I was with my friend (she knew where she was going... I did not) and hiked up... WAY up.  I think mom was beat by the time we got up the hill.

Walking up the hill you see this... the semana santos guys...

The church:

Looking down the hill...

We parked here... walked all the way around and to the church on the hill.
It was a lot of walking...

Carnival... part one

Tonight, Steve and mom went out to see what Carnival was all about.  They had a great time.
Carnival is a 3 week party that certain towns celebrate and we are lucky to live in one of the towns that do.
Although, it is a little crazy for some to see or be in the middle of- it is definitely worth seeing once in your life.  Spaniards know how to party- and we are slowly catching on...
Tonight, Chipiona was packed with people ready to start the party.  Mom and Steve had a great time... and plenty of stories to come back and tell me.

This bus was coming through the town.... without wheels.  They were walking it around!
